Chelsea sign Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for around £30m
Dewsbury-Hall celebrates
Chelsea have signed Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for around £30m.
The 25-year-old has agreed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge and is reunited with Chelsea's new boss Enzo Maresca, having worked together last season.
Although the Foxes have lost one of their key players, the transfer will help significantly in their attempts to stay within the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules.
The fee is recorded as pure profit as the midfielder came through the ranks at the King Power Stadium.
He made 120 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 17 goals, 12 of which came last season as the club won promotion to the Premier League.
He wrote on Instagram: "Well what can I say? What a journey it's been. 17 years of my life devoted to this club and it's been a pleasure. I've loved every minute of my time at this football club and created some memories & friendships I'll never forget.
"When we were relegated in the 22/23 season, I felt personally responsible for my part played in that.
"I made it my goal to ensure we got back to the Premier League within the first season, as I know how devastating a position that can be for a club if it doesn't happen.
"I'm very proud of what we achieved together last season - creating memories of a lifetime for us all. But bigger than that, hopefully going some way to righting the wrongs of that relegation season."
Leicester are interested in signing Chelsea's Michael Golding in a separate deal, the PA news agency understands.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have completed the signing of Leeds midfielder Archie Gray in a player-plus-cash deal which sees Joe Rodon return to Elland Road.
Gray, 18, has attracted plenty of admirers after an impressive breakout season and Brentford had a bid in the region of £35million rejected on Sunday.
It opened the door for Spurs to swoop for the England Under-21 international, who has signed a six-year deal with the Premier League club after they paid a fee between £25m and £30m to secure his services alongside the sweetener of former loanee Rodon going back to Leeds on a permanent basis.
Leeds' failure to secure promotion via the Championship play-offs in May put pressure on them to make at least one lucrative sale in order to comply with financial fair play rules.
The versatile Gray flourished under Leeds boss Daniel Farke last season to become one of their most valuable assets, going on to make 52 appearances in all competitions at both right-back and in the centre of midfield after his league debut in August against Cardiff.
From a prestigious footballing family with his great-uncle Leeds stalwart Eddie Gray and dad Andy also previously playing for the Elland Road club, Archie won the Championship Young Player of the Year award and also starred during a run to the FA Cup fifth round.
Chelsea registered an interest in the Leeds academy graduate alongside a host of other top-flight clubs, but Gray was convinced Tottenham was the best destination for him after talks with Ange Postecoglou and will get the chance to play Europa League football with the north London outfit.
Wales international Rodon has gone in the other direction, bringing to an end his four-year stay at Spurs.
Rodon signed from Swansea in 2020 but only played 24 times for Tottenham with his last outing for the club two years ago as a late substitute against Burnley towards the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
After spending the last two seasons on loan at Rennes and then Leeds, the 26-year-old has returned to the latter after signing a four-year deal.
Tom Heaton has signed a new one-year deal with Manchester United, the PA news agency understands.
The 38-year-old came through the ranks at Old Trafford and, after spells with Cardiff, Bristol City, Burnley and Aston Villa, returned to the club in 2021.
Heaton has won three England caps and is currently working as a training goalkeeper with Gareth Southgate's squad at Euro 2024.
One of the senior leaders in the United dressing room and a sounding board for captain Bruno Fernandes, the well-liked goalkeeper is understood to have had a number of other offers.
Heaton is doing his coaching badges but still feels able to compete at the highest level, with the goalkeeper staying at United to compete with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.
Asked if he was considering hanging up his gloves at the start of the Euros, the United goalkeeper told the PA news agency: "No, definitely not.
"For me, it's all about feel. I still feel bang at it, still feel good. Certainly no thoughts about that. While I still feel good, I'll still be champing at the bit."
Wolves have signed Norway striker Jorgen Strand Larsen on a season-long loan from Celta Vigo.
The 24-year-old will spend the 2024-25 season at Molineux in a move which will become permanent should certain clauses be triggered.
Sporting director Matt Hobbs said: "Everyone knows that bringing in a number nine was really important to us this summer, and Jorgen was our number one target for the position, so we are really pleased to have signed him.
"He's a great guy, who's got a really good charisma and a great personality, and although he's still young, still learning and still developing, he's shown that he can score goals, and puts a lot of work and running in for the rest of the team.
"We talk a lot about humility at this football club, and he fits that perfectly.
"In Jorgen, we're getting a guy whose career is on the way up and we hope to keep helping him improve and develop so he can get to the levels we think he can reach."

Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala has joined Lyon on a permanent deal.
The Belgium international, who was part of the Euro 2024 squad, spent the second half of last season on loan at the Ligue 1 club.
The 26-year-old made 53 appearances at the City Ground after joining from Stuttgart in the summer of 2022, but fell out of favour under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
Mangala's transfer will see Forest recoup a sizeable fee which will help with their quest to comply with Premier League financial rules.
Derby have signed strikers Kayden Jackson and Jerry Yates.
Jackson, 30, arrives at Pride Park after being released by Ipswich following six years and has signed a two-year deal with the Championship club while Yates will join on a season-long loan deal from Swansea.
The pair become the second and third signings of the summer transfer window after Ben Osborn signed from Sheffield United last week.
Meanwhile, Championship rivals Plymouth have announced the signing of striker Muhamed Tijani until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old Nigerian joins on loan from Slavia Prague and Argyle have the option to buy the player at the end of the initial loan spell.
Tijani scored four times for Slavia Prague last term and also featured in the Europa League for the Czech side.
