A high number of gardaí were present at a junior soccer game in Limerick on Sunday morning, as tensions between supporters of Moyross United and Geraldines threatened to boil over.

In what was a seventh tier Power Cup final, between the ‘B’ teams of both clubs, Moyross won via sudden death penalties after a 2-2 draw. The clash, played at Jackman Park, saw a larger than normal support for two sides promoted from Division 3A of the Limerick District League.
