Three Champions League finals in four years  delayed John O’Shea’s arrivals into Ireland camp as a player but he’s no qualms about being the first man at the hotel to welcome his Republic squad on Thursday.

Were he to heed the advice of his fellow international centurion Damien Duff, he wouldn't be here at all.
