Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has heaped praise on Galway native Alex Murphy after the young defender penned at new long-term contract at St James’ Park.

The 19-year-old, who has been involved in the first-team squad for 19 games in all competitions so far this season, has made two Premier League appearances from the bench.
