Republic of Ireland winger Chiedozie Ogbene has been ruled out of Tuesday night's friendly with Switzerland at the Aviva Stadium.

It is a blow to interim boss John O'Shea, who watched Ogbene earn his 20th cap in impressive fashion against Belgium on Saturday evening.

Although O'Shea had reported an injury-free squad at Monday's pre-Switzerland press conference, Cork man Ogbene has suffered a knock and will rehab back with his club Luton Town.

Included in the 26-strong squad for face the Swiss are regular uner-21 midfield duo Joe Hodge and Andy Moran.

O'Shea and Co. will be looking to end their interim tenure with a win after Evan Ferguson missed a first-half penalty in Ireland's 0-0 draw against Belgium over the weekend.

Ahead of Tuesday night's clash, the Swiss have also reported some injury news, with Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji absent from their squad for the Aviva fixture.

Republic of Ireland squad:
