La Liga underdogs Alaves looked set to earn a big point at home to title-chasing Real Madrid on Thursday night before a late winner sent manager Luis Garcia Plaza into meltdown. 

A stoppage-time header by fullback Lucas Vazquez earned 10-man Real a 1-0 victory, with defender Nacho handed his marching orders following a sliding tackle.
