Ex-FAI Chairman Roy Barrett has defended his decision to approve a payment to chief executive Jonathan Hill that contravened their own handbook.
Barrett quit the association last month in the same week that details emerged of a Sport Ireland-commissioned audit by KOSI revealing two discrepancies - €12,000 paid in lieu of holidays not taken and a €8,500 benefit in kind (BIK) tax liability on travel expenses. Vital State grants were suspended over the saga.
