US women's soccer resolve a longstanding dispute over equal pay

The U.S. Soccer Federation agreed to a payment of $24m (€21.15m), $22m (€19.3m) of which will go to the players.  That figure is about one-third of what they had sought in damages.

"We are pleased to announce that, contingent on the negotiation of a new collective bargaining agreement, we will have resolved our longstanding dispute over equal pay and proudly stand together in a shared commitment to advancing equality in soccer," U.S. Soccer and the players said in a joint statement posted to Twitter.

US women soccer players have reached a landmark agreement with the sport's American governing body to end a six-year legal battle over equal pay.
