Conor Masterson: Ireland u21s can still reach European Championship finals

Last night’s set of results across the nine groups means six points from the last two qualifiers will clinch them a first-ever major tournament place.

Ireland U21 defender Conor Masterson remains confident they can still achieve their European Championship finals target by winning two “Cup finals” next month.

Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat against top seeds Italy leaves Ireland dependent on qualifying for next year’s showpiece as one of the best five runners-ups, barring an unlikely Italian slip-up in their remaining three qualifiers.
