The 63-year-old appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates' Court in Crewe via video-link from prison on Monday accused of seven counts of indecent assault and five counts of buggery.

He will next appear at Chester Crown Court on March 22.

The former Crewe Alexandra coach, of no fixed address, now faces 20 sexual abuse allegations.

He has previously pleaded not guilty to seven counts of indecent assault on a boy and one count of attempted buggery.

All the charges will be dealt with together at Chester Crown Court at the next hearing.

The offences he was charged with on Monday relate to alleged incidents between 1980 and 1987, which were said to have occurred when the complainants were aged between eight and 14.

Eleven of the alleged offences are said to have happened in Derbyshire, while one is said to have taken place in Pwllheli, north Wales.

The new charges relate to three separate complainants.
