Welshman Giggs was interviewed by Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins last week before the Welsh club axed Guidolin on Monday morning.

It is understood that the Manchester United legend had already chosen his former United team-mate Nicky Butt to lead his backroom team.

Giggs, who has won 13 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues with United, was their interim manager for four games in 2014.
