Shane Duffy leaves Blackburn after rollercoaster month

Irish international Shane Duffy has joined Brighton on a four-year deal.

Chris Hughton has signed the 24-year-old centre-half from Championship rivals Blackburn for a reported £4.5million.

Blackburn have already replaced Duffy by signing Irish under-21 international Tommie Hoban on-loan from Watford.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have allowed Irish Under-21 international Kevin Toner to join League One side Walsall on loan until January.

The Meath native is highly-rated at Villa Park and was widely tipped to break into their first-team squad this season.
