Shamrock Rovers ‘part company’ with Pat Fenlon

Shamrock Rovers have parted company with Pat Fenlon after less than two years in the job.

The Dublin club released a statement this afternoon to confirm that the 47-year-old is leaving with “immediate effect”.

He was under pressure following Thursday night's Europa League first leg defeat to Finnish side RoPS Rovaniemi.

The 2-0 loss at Tallaght left the Hoops with a mountain to climb ahead of this week's second leg.

They are currently fourth in the Premier Division, 14 points behind Dundalk.

Rovers’ statement read: “Shamrock Rovers Football Club wishes to announce that it has parted company with First team manager Pat Fenlon with immediate effect.

“The Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks for the dedication and commitment Pat has shown over the course of three seasons with the Club.

“Everyone at the club wishes Pat all the best in the future.

“There will be no further comment from the club on this matter.

“A further statement will follow from the club in due course.”
