Airtricity League round-up: Cork City score two late goals to stay on Dundalk’s coat-tails

In the Airtricity League tonight, Cork City beat Derry City 2-1 after late goals from Danny Morrissey and Kenny Browne.

Niclas Vemmelund had given the Candystripes the lead early in the second-half, but they couldn’t hold out for the final ten minutes.

League leaders Dundalk came away with a comprehensive 7-0 victory against Finn Harps, with goals from Robbie Benson (2), Daryl Horgan, a Ciaran Coll OG, David McMillan, Andrew Boyle and Paddy Barrett.

Meanwhile Longford Town and St Pats played out a 3-3 draw.

Longford’s goals came from Philip Gannon, Conor Powell and a David O'Sullivan penalty, but St Pat’s levelled each time thanks to Sam Verdon, Conan Byrne and Jamie McGrath.

Wexford Youths also beat Shamrock Rovers 2-0, with Andy Mulligan and Chris Kenny scoring the decisive goals.

In the first Division, there were wins for Limerick FC, Waterford and Drogheda United, while UCD defeated Cobh Ramblers 3-1.
