Dundalk have signalled their intention to pick-up where they left off last season, in tonight’s second round of Airtricity League matches.

The defending champions were comfortable 3-0 winners over Finn Harps at Oriel Park, with goals from Paddy Barrett and Patrick McEleney, as well as an own-goal by Ryan Curran.

In the big game of the night, Derry City beat 10-man Cork City 1-0 at the Brandywell after Ronan Curtis got the only goal of the game.

Greg Bolger was sent-off the Leesiders ten minutes from time.

Galway United hammered Bray Wanderers 4-0, with second-half goals from Kevin Devaney, Vinny Faherty, Ruairi Keating and a Paul Finnegan own goal.

At Dalymount Park Bohemians beat Sligo Rovers 1-0 after Kurtis Byrne's early strike.

In the two late games, St Pat’s claimed a 1-0 win over their hosts Longford Town thanks to a Christy Fagan goal and Shamrock Rovers were 2-0 winners over Wexford Youths at the Tallaght Stadium, with Danny North and Gary McCabe, from the penalty spot, on the mark.

In the First Division, the meeting of Athlone Town and Shelbourne had to be abandoned because of a floodlight failure before kick-off.

Elsewhere, Limerick were 5-2 winners over Waterford at the RSC and UCD beat Cabinteely 2-1 in Belfield.
