Newcastle set to miss out on Saido Berahino on subdued deadline day

Newcastle completed the loan signing of Seydou Doumbia but looked set to be frustrated in their attempt to buy West Brom’s Saido Berahino on what has so far been a relatively quiet deadline day.

The Magpies had already spent nearly £29million on Andros Townsend, Jonjo Shelvey and Henri Saivet before deadline day arrived.
