Roy Keane has admitted he is keen to get back into club management, but said that for the moment he is enjoying his role with Ireland.

With qualification for Euro 2016 in the bag, the Republic of Ireland assistant manager was in positive form when he met the media today.

When asked about his future with Ireland, Keane said he and manager Martin o’Neill had had bigger concerns in recent months.

“I don’t know,” he told reporters. “I’ll meet Martin over the next few weeks and we’ll have a look.

“I’m not sure about contract situations, it’s been the last thing on our minds.”

O’Neill has said in recent days that he would be open to a contract situation but his assistant is still interested in a club role.

“Martin knows I’ve still got that ambition to get back into it, but I’m not really one for networking or applying for jobs,” Keane said with masterful understatement.

“Stuff has come up, but I’ve been focused on the (Ireland) job.”

Despite that desire, having helped guide Ireland to qualification, he would dearly love to be part of the management team taking them to France next summer.

“I’m enjoying the role here. Obviously I want to stay on for the Euros, but we’ll play it by ear.”
