Pique believes Barcelona and Real would struggle to win the Premier League

Barcelona enjoyed another successful season last year, claiming the Champions League, La Liga title and domestic cup.

The Spanish giants are renowned as one of the greatest clubs ever, having played host to some of the most talented footballers ever to play the game and having won five Champions League titles and 23 La Liga crowns.

The Catalan side currently boast the most frightening attacking ensemble in world football. The trio of Neymar, Suarez and of course, Messi have been terrorising defences with dazzling displays of trickery, skill and inventiveness, firing Barcelona to the treble in the 2014/15 season.

But, the question many critics are asking (not really) is can they do it on a cold, wet night in Stoke?

Barca defender Gerard Pique thinks not.

The Spanish international believes that Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid would struggle to win the Premier League in their first season because teams like Stoke would be “really tough” to play against.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, he said “I think that if Barcelona or Real Madrid goes to the Premier League then the first year of playing there, there is no chance of winning it.”

“I think [this] because if you go to Stoke, or other types of teams, then it will be really tough.”

The former Man United player was an integral part of Barcelona’s triumphs last season as he recaptured his best form. He also believes that English clubs would struggle if they had to play in Spain.

“It’s a debate we could spend hours on,” he continued.

“If Manchester United or Chelsea go to Spain then the same. No chance to win the league.”
