Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp must wait to see if Daniel Sturridge can face Saints

Injury worries over Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge mean he remains a doubt for Sunday’s visit of Southampton.

The England international has missed the last two matches with a knee injury sustained in training before last weekend’s match at Tottenham.

Sturridge will undergo another scan on Friday but his chances of returning for Jurgen Klopp’s first home league match appear slim.

“I spoke to him a few minutes ago. It is not much better at this moment,” said Klopp.

“With Daniel’s injury we have to proceed day-by-day. If he can train, for example, completely normal then it is an option.

“Today we have another treatment and another screening maybe because there is a little bit of fluid (inside the joint).”
