Christian Benteke to miss Liverpool Cup clash with Carlisle

Striker Christian Benteke will miss Liverpool’s Capital One Cup third-round tie against Carlisle at Anfield with a hamstring injury.

The Belgium international was withdrawn at half-time during Sunday’s draw with Norwich and was due to undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of the problem.

Captain Jordan Henderson has had successful surgery on his broken foot and could be out for up to eight weeks, but no time scale has been put on his recovery. Manager Brendan Rodgers has no other new injury concerns but is likely to make changes for the game.
