Jon Walters fails to secure move away from Stoke

Walters will have to see out the final year of his contract at Stoke.

Jonathan Walters is to remain at Stoke after Tuesday’s transfer window closed without him succeeding in securing his desired move away from the club.

Stoke’s summer recruitment of Xherdan Shaqiri and Ibrahim Afellay, and the return to fitness of Bojan, has reduced his importance to manager Mark Hughes in attack.
