Joey Barton would rather retire than play in Ireland
By Stephen Barry
Joey Barton has pretty conclusively ruled out the possibility of lining out in the League of Ireland.
The LeagueOfIreland.ie Twitter account put the question to Barton, who is currently looking for a club, in a light-hearted Q&A, and Barton was clear to say the least.
However, if Barton’s accountant gives him some bad advice, there just might be a chance!

The LeagueOfIreland.ie guys did come armed with a solid comeback:
Some of Barton’s other answers revealed:
…His favourite stadium for atmosphere:
Fenerbahce for Marseille in Europa League. Never heard noise like it. Nothing in England has ever came close. https://t.co/UX1gGO0X8y

…That he'd love a return to Newcastle, if Mike Ashley changed his ways:
Everyday and twice on a Sunday, IF and only IF the powers that be changed their approach to the club. https://t.co/Yuy37mX6zl

…That he'd fancy a move to Celtic too:
Would love to one day. Maybe when the Old Firm is back it would appeal more. Always wanted to attend/play in one. https://t.co/6S9ILQi3HM

…And that he accepts being a ‘massive tosser’ is a fair description of him:
About fair if you don't know me. Although, I do feel people secretly like me...😃 https://t.co/N11BbLcOHj
