John Giles 'not dropped' from panel, say RTE

John Giles has not been dropped from the panel covering Ireland's soccer matches, RTE has said, although he will not be part of the panel covering our European qualifier against Scotland this weekend.

Richie Sadlier will join Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady to cover this weekend's match in the Aviva Stadium.

An RTÉ spokesperson said Giles' omission "is just an editorial decision based around scheduling".

The spokesperson added the panel is interchangeable, with the line-up decided per fixture about two weeks in advance.

It is not yet known whether Giles will be part of the panel for the September 4 clash with Gibraltar. That panel has not yet been decided.
