David Luiz makes pledge of virginity after baptism

Footballer David Luiz has taken a vow to abstain from sex until he is married.

The Brazilian defender posted pictures on Instagram on Friday, showing himself being baptized in a team-mate’s swimming pool.

Luiz has spoken previously about his strong religious beliefs and captioned the picture of the baptism with a quote from the Corinthians.

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)."

He also wrote(via Google translate): “How wonderful to live with you Lord, thank You for loving me so much and take care of me! My life is yours, and I am your servant! What're always in the centre of all my decisions! I love my God! Amen”.

Luiz has been in a relationship with girlfriend Sara Madeira since they were teenagers.

Also on Instagram he wrote: "I have chosen to wait".
