VIDEO: Ronaldo booked for diving - but should it have been a penalty?

It what looks like a clear example of the boy who cried wolf, Cristiano Ronaldo was booked for diving last night, even though replays seem to show he should have been awarded a penalty.

The Portuguese star was playing for Real Madrid against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga - and was shown a yellow card following a heavy challenge from Rayo defender Antonio Amaya.

Ronaldo and his team-mates were outraged when he was booked instead of Amaya. To make it worse, this is his fifth booking and so results in an automatic one-match ban.

The player and his club will appeal the decision, saying in a statement today: “Real Madrid will appeal the yellow card that Cristiano Ronaldo received in yesterday’s game against Rayo in Vallecas.”
