Ibrahimovic handed one-match ban for Chelsea red
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will only be suspended for one match for his red card against Chelsea, UEFA has announced.
The Paris St Germain striker was sent off following a challenge on Oscar – but the incident was controversial as a straight red card was shown to the Sweden star after Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers was surrounded by nine Chelsea players.
UEFA said in a statement: “Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been suspended for one UEFA competition match for which he would be otherwise eligible. As a result, the player is not eligible to play in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.”
PSG defender Serge Aurier has been given a three-match ban after calling the referee “a dirty son of a bitch” on a video clip which was posted on social media.
