The threat of a winter World Cup in Qatar in 2022 affecting the traditional festive period for club matches will see English football united in opposition to the plan.
A FIFA task force recommended a winter World Cup in Qatar 2022 finishing in late December, with FIFA’s executive committee to make the final decision on dates next month.
