Football fans are getting a lot of bad press at the moment, but the fans of VfB Stuttgart showed real heart at the weekend, despite their side losing.

Stuttgart are bottom of the Bundesliga table and look likely to be relegated at the end of the season after suffering yet another defeat on Saturday, losing 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund.

The loss was made even harder to take because Dortmund’s third goal was scored very late on and was the result of a poor defensive error by teenager Timo Baumgartl.

The 18-year-old defender fumbled the ball on the edge of his area, conceding possession to Marco Reus who nipped in and scored.

The team went over to the sidelines to acknowledge their supporters after the final whistle and fair play to the fans - a number of them made a point of speaking to the devastated Baumgartl and consoling him.

A very classy gesture.
