Van Gaal charged by FA after 'every aspect against us' comments

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has been charged by the Football Association over comments he made following his side’s FA Cup fourth-round goalless draw at Cambridge last month.

Van Gaal said after the game that “every aspect of the match” had been “against” his team, including the referee Chris Foy.

A statement from the FA today said it was alleged that Van Gaal’s words “allege and/or imply bias on the part of the match referee and/or bring the game into disrepute”.

The Dutchman has until 6pm on Monday to respond to the charge.

Having seen the Barclays Premier League giants held by their Sky Bet League Two hosts in the initial encounter between them on January 23, Van Gaal said: ''Every aspect of the match is against us - the pitch, the referee, everything that you can think about is against you."

He later repeated ”every aspect of a match is against us“, adding: ”You have seen the referee. It’s always the same.

“Everywhere I have coached these games – and I have coached them also with other clubs – it’s always the same.”

United won the replay 3-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
