Cork City sign former United and Ireland player

Ireland international and Cork native Liam Miller has signed with League of Ireland side Cork City FC for the coming season.

The 33-year-old joins the club from the Australian A-League, where he played with Perth Glory, the Brisbane Roars and, briefly, Melbourne City.
Miller has been in Australia since 2011. He previously played for Celtic and Manchester United among others in the UK.
The midfielder also made 21 senior appearances for the Republic of Ireland between 2004 and 2009.

The player said in an interview on the Cork City FC website he was thrilled to be back playing in Ireland.
āI am delighted to be returning home,ā he said. āI will be proud to wear the Cork City jersey and do what I can for the team in front of all my family and friends.
āI am best mates with Mark McNulty; I played with both him and Colin Healy since Under 16s and have lots of good memories. I also know Billy Dennehy who I played with at Sunderland.ā
Miller said he is joining the club, who finished second in the league to Dundalk last season, with one aim in mind: āTo win the League.ā
