Mourinho defends Lampard departure

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists the club made the right decision in not keeping Frank Lampard as it would have hindered the development of younger players.

The former England midfielder left Stamford Bridge in the summer as the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, and after initially signing for Major League Soccer franchise New York City he was loaned to sister club Manchester City.
