Madrid not ruling out Silva bid

Real Madrid have not ruled out making a bid to sign Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva in the winter transfer market, according to club coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The Brazil Under-21 starlet has been strongly linked with a move to the Bernabeu stadium in recent months.

With Croatian midfielder Luka Modric sidelined until February with a thigh injury and Sami Khedira’s future at the club uncertain – the Germany international has yet to sign a contract extension with his current deal ending next summer – the European champions may reinforce their midfield line in January.

“We have to wait for the Christmas period, when everything will be much clearer,” Ancelotti told www.realmadrid.com. “Then we’ll make a decision.

“We are interested in Lucas Silva, but also in other players.

“After the Club World Cup we’ll make a decision by evaluating the situations of the midfielders who are injured at the moment.”

The 21-year-old Silva, who is also a reported target of Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter Milan, broke into Cruzeiro’s first team squad in 2012 and has since made 38 appearances for the Brazilian club.
