O’Neill: Roy had no summer holidays

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has been speaking about Roy Keane’s resignation as assistant manager of Aston Villa.
O’Neill insisted that he never personally had a problem with Keane’s role at the Birmingham club, and the decision was Keane’s alone.
“I think that what happened is that he didn’t have any summer holiday,” said O’Neill.
“He went straight from international duty with us in America, straight to the job at Aston Villa, and I think eventually those sort of things catch up with you.”
He later stated that although “I am not his keeper, far from it”, he believed that Roy showed commitment to his role at Villa.
“But he has decided to make the choice, and naturally I am delighted that the Republic of Ireland have been his first choice.”
