Bookmaker pays out super early on Chelsea title win

In the biggest vote of confidence yet for José Mourinho’s men bookmaker Paddy Power has paid out on Chelsea to win the 2014/2015 Premier League title…Already.

With just 11 of the 38 rounds in the Premier League played, the Blues have only a four point lead at the top of the table, with Southampton second and Manchester City eight points behind the Special One’s team in third.

It is not the first time the publicity-hungry bookmaker has paid out early, in the 2005/2006 season they paid out in September - again on a José Mourinho-trained Chelsea team.

Fans of other teams with aspirations of the title can take hope in the knowledge that they have also paid out incorrectly in the past.

In 2002/2003 they paid out on Arsenal as champions when they built up a 12 point lead at the top of the table, only for Manchester United to overtake them and be crowned champions.

Paddy Power have side the pay-out is costing them approximately £400k, with the largest single pay-out of £22.4k going to a punter who put 16k on Chelsea at 2/5.
