Football Manager just got real
The creators of popular computer game Football Manager have signed a deal to make its database available to help real scouts identify players for recruitment.
The game’s owner Sports Interactive has amassed a huge amount of information on players throughout the world and has signed a deal to make that information available to Prozone Sports, an industry leading provider of sports performance analysis.
Prozone Sports intend to incorporate the database into their Prozone Recruiter tool; an online platform that is used by many clubs, including those in the Premier League, to identify suitable players for their teams.
Sports Interactive Studio Director Miles Jacobson said they already had anecdotal reports of their game data being used in real life.
“For years we’ve heard stories of real-life managers and scouts using our data to help with the recruitment process,” said Jacobson.
“From now on, it’s official…real managers around the world will be finding and comparing players using data and a search system that will be very familiar to players of Football Manager.”
Prozone CEO Thomas Schmider spoke to sigames.com about his company’s reasons for linking up with Sports Interactive.
“The Sports Interactive database is a highly accurate and valuable resource that will further enhance the recruitment services that we provide,” said Schmider.
“Complementing our exhaustive technical data and video footage with excellent biographical, contractual and positional information, the integration of Sports Interactive data further establishes Recruiter as the most comprehensive recruitment and asset management platform available.”
Sports Interactive use a network of more than 1300 scouts to compile information on players from all around the world for their flagship game.
