‘World’s most wanted’ goalkeeper Navas star of show against Greece
Costa Rica are in the final eight of the World Cup largely thanks to the display from their goalkeeper in last night’s win over Greece.
Navas was Man of The Match for his performance in the game. He pulled off a string of saves throughout normal and then extra-time and then capped it all with this save to deny Theofanis Gekas in the penalty shoot-out.
His team-mate Michael Umana then converted the final penaly, and Costa Rica were through to the quarter-finals of a World Cup for the first time ever. Cue jubilant scenes.
The Costa Rican keeper took to twitter afterwards to tweet his joy at the win saying: “This stop is for God, my family, my colleagues, for all Costa Rica.”

The 27-year-old currently plays his club football in La Liga having played with Spanish side Levante since 2012.
Spanish viewers may have been less surprised than the rest of the world at his performance, as he has impressed hugely in his time with Levante.
In January this year he pulled off this incredible triple save against Barcelona.
Levante must be worried that all the attention will lead them to lose Navas, with reports this morning describing him as the world’s most wanted goalkeeper. Arsenal, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are all reported as being interested in signing the player.
