Southampton FC have announced the appointment of Ronald Koeman as their new manager.

Southampton FC have announced the appointment of Ronald Koeman as their new manager.

Former Dutch footballer Koeman has signed a three-year contract and will be joined at the club by his brother, Erwin, who will be the new assistant manager.

Koeman comes to the Saints from Dutch club Feyenoord, where he has been manager since 2011.

He had announced in February this year that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

He has also tweeted to confirm his new role and say how much he is looking forward to his new role.

Southampton have played in the Premier League for the last two season and most recently had their highest ever league placing - finishing eighth under Mauricio Pochettino.

Argentinian Pochettino left the Saints in May to join Tottenham Hotspur as first team manager.
