Was there an 'invisible man' playing for Man City?

By Peter O’ Dwyer

The final day of Premier League action was a dull affair, with the eventual champions easily seeing off West Ham.

A two-nil win for Manchester City over the Hammers was the knockout blow to Liverpool’s title aspirations, which hung by a thread following a remarkable draw with Crystal Palace last Monday night.

If the blow City delivered was widely anticipated, it seems West Ham’s Matty Taylor was hit with another that nobody – the player included – saw coming.

In what is one of the strangest moments of the season, Taylor sinks to his knees following the seemingly phantom blow.

In our estimation, the entertainment factor provided by the midfielder is rivalled only by the equally peculiar, diva-like reaction of Mike Dean when a Swansea City attack broke down against Manchester United earlier in the season.
