Police arrest four over Coppa Italia violence

Four people have been arrested, including a Napoli football fan who remains in a serious condition, following a shooting that preceded the Italian Cup final.

Police said a Roma fan named Daniele De Santis fired the four shots and was arrested for investigation of alleged attempted murder.

The fan in a serious condition, Ciro Esposito, was conscious at a Rome hospital awaiting surgery.

The start of the match was delayed for 40 minutes as officials attempted to calm fans down in the stadium, where a firefighter was injured by a flare thrown from the stands.

Napoli beat Fiorentina 3-1 for the trophy yesterday.

Police said De Santis acted alone and that he is also being investigated for fighting and a firearms violation.

The three fans who were shot are being investigated for fighting.
