Ukraine-US match to go ahead

Ukraine’s friendly against the United States will go ahead on Wednesday in Cyprus, according to US Soccer.

Reports on Monday night said the match – already moved away from Ukraine – had been cancelled due to the ongoing crisis in the country.

US Soccer issued a statement saying it had contacted its Ukrainian counterpart the FFU seeking confirmation of its plans amid the reports, but later confirmed the match would go ahead.

“The Football Federation of Ukraine confirmed that their team will travel to Cyprus and the match will proceed as scheduled,” US Soccer said via Twitter.

The match is part of the United States’ preparations for the World Cup in Brazil.
