Budweiser terminates FA Cup deal

The Football Association has confirmed it is looking for a new sponsor for the FA Cup after Budweiser decided not to renew its £9m-a-year deal.

The current arrangement expires at the end of the season and the FA said it is “seeking a new lead partner” for the FA Cup from the 2014-15 season.

FA commercial director Stuart Turner said: “The FA Cup retains a special place in English football and it remains an important competition, not just in England but across the globe.

“Next year the FA Cup will move to the BBC’s platforms and we are very excited about its future.”

There have been suggestions the FA would consider offering naming rights for the trophy, but it is understood it is seeking a similar arrangement “in association with” the FA Cup with its new lead sponsor.
