Robbie Keane returned to the Republic of Ireland starting line-up as they looked to end a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign with a victory over Kazakhstan.

The 33-year-old striker was included as one of four changes to the side beaten 3-0 in Germany on Friday night. Keane, Andy Reid – who was discarded by Giovanni Trapattoni back in 2008 – Richard Dunne and John O’Shea replaced Ciaran Clark, Damien Delaney, Stephen Kelly and Glenn Whelan.
