The caretaker manager has already been handed a couple more injuries to deal with ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan.
Stoke's Jonathan Walters has withdrawn due to a groin problem with Paul Green called in as a replacement.
Sunderland goalkeeper Kieren Westwood is also pulling out to undergo medical treatment and Bournemouth's Stephen Henderson has been called up in his place.
