Gerrard facing surgery on injured shoulder

Liverpool have confirmed captain Steven Gerrard will undergo surgery on his left shoulder this week, ruling him out for the rest of the season and England’s two summer friendlies.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is to have an operation on his left shoulder which will rule him out of the rest of the season.

The England skipper will also miss the national team’s two friendlies against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley on May 29 and Brazil on June 2.
