Fergie hints at Lewandowski interest

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has hinted that he may be set to move for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has hinted that he may be set to move for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.

The 24-year-old Poland international boosted his already substantial reputation by scoring all four goals in his side’s 4-1 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League this week.

The performance has inevitably seen him linked with a host of Barclays Premier League sides, as well as German champions Bayern Munich, who have already sealed the capture of Lewandowski’s team-mate Mario Gotze.

And he appears to have a fan in Ferguson.

“If the right player comes along you have to be prepared to make a move,” Ferguson was quoted as saying on the Guardian website. “I can find room for anybody here as long as they have the required quality.

“I am not sure Lewandowski will be sold to Bayern now. The Dortmund fans are not going to be happy and I don’t think they will sell to their main rivals. I think they will either let his contract run out, or sell him somewhere else.”
