The death of former Republic of Ireland international Tony Grealish has been confirmed by Brighton and Hove Albion, the club he used to captain.

The death of former Republic of Ireland international Tony Grealish has been confirmed by Brighton & Hove Albion FC, the club he used to captain.

Albion said on their official website that Grealish, who led them into the 1983 FA Cup final against Manchester United, had passed away aged 56.

Grealish also made 45 appearances for Ireland as well as playing for Leyton Orient, Luton, West Brom, Manchester City, Rotherham and Walsall, making in excess of 500 career appearances.
