Captain John Terry started in central defence for holders Chelsea in the FA Cup fourth-round replay with Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

Terry, who has been troubled by a knee injury since November, made his third start under interim boss Rafael Benitez, while five other changes following Thursday’s 1-0 Europa League defeat of Prague saw Ashley Cole, David Luiz, Oscar, Victor Moses and Demba Ba start.

Brentford made three changes from the side which beat Stevenage on Tuesday night, with Marcello Trotta, Shaleum Logan and Toumani Diagouraga called up to start.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Luiz, Lampard, Oscar, Mata, Moses, Ba. Subs: Turnbull, Ramires, Torres, Hazard, Azpilicueta, Benayoun, Bertrand.

Brentford: Moore, Logan, Craig, Dean, Bidwell, Adeyemi, Diagouraga, Douglas, Forshaw, Donaldson, Trotta. Subs: Lee, Barron, Saunders, Hodson, Forrester, Reeves, Hayes.
