Adkins determined to fight on

Under-fire manager Nigel Adkins today promised to turn things around at Southampton and talked up his relationship with executive chairman Nicola Cortese amid speculation he is heading for the sack.

The 47-year-old’s position has come under increasing scrutiny after his side’s poor start to life back in the top flight after a seven-year absence.
