Trap determined to stay on as Ireland boss
Giovanni Trapattoni insists that he has got no plans to step down as Ireland manager in the wake of Friday's 6-1 thrashing by Germany.
Trapattoni has reminded fans that they were always competing against the likes of Sweden and Austria for the runners-up place in Group C by the Germans.
However, former Irish internationals, Kevin Kilbane and Kenny Cunningham have joined the calls for Trapattoni to walk away from the job after Ireland's heaviest defeat at home.
Kilbane believes that Trap's influence has been diluted since he first came into the Ireland job.#
The Republic of Ireland squad have been given a rest day today as they look to recover from the defeat.
Robbie Keane is likely to be fit for that game after training with the rest of the squad yesterday, while Trap has also hinted that Robbie Brady could be in line for a greater role in the game.
