Trapattoni reveals high hopes for McCarthy

Giovanni Trapattoni backed James McCarthy to shine for the Republic of Ireland following a summer of turmoil for the Wigan midfielder.

McCarthy will make his first competitive start for Ireland tomorrow in the country’s World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in Astana.
